Description
Leconfield estate was established in 1974 by pioneering oenologist Sydney Hamilton. Leconfield has embraced innovation to produce high quality wines which are sought after all around the world.
Leconfield’s sparkling wine range has a strong following in its own right. The original name of the Sparkling Wine Range was ‘Synergy’ in honour of the synergy between the Leconfield Coonawarra and McLaren Vale vineyards. Today all the fruit is sourced solely from the Coonawarra vineyards to capture the qualities of the cool climate region that is essential for the creation of elegant sparkling wines. To reflect this change, the name was shortened and ‘Syn’ was created
The Syn Sparkling Wines portfolio consists of Syn Chardonnay Pinot Noir, Syn Rouge Sparkling Shiraz and the elegant Syn Sparkling Rosé. Syn Sparkling Wines are award winning wines of excellent value.
Winemaking
Fresh Coonawarra Shiraz was made in a fine, elegant style and matured in oak, 31% of this cuvee is aged in 1-3 year old French Oak barrels for just a few months. Secondary fermentation has provided natural effervescence and the wine has been liqueured to give a creamy palate. 2% vintage fortified was blended in to liqueur the wine to provide complexity.
Tasting Note
Rich chocolate and raspberry fruit with a fragrant yeasty complexity. Medium bodied with a big burst of flavour, this Shiraz has zesty berry fruit flavours, textured, creamy body and refreshing bubbly palate. Round, rich and with clean acidity.
Goes well with
This sparkling Shiraz is lovely on its own, but try it with duck, feta and beetroot salad or hummus and Turkish bread.
Cellaring
This is a lovely refreshing wine best enjoyed in its youth while the colour is bright and primary fruits can be savoured.
