Named after the man purported to have invented the technique of charring oak casks to open up the wood interaction, Elijah Craig's 18 year old single barrel edition really benefits from its namesake's methods. Matured in charred new American oak for an extra 6 years on top of the brand's standard bottling, the 18 year old has a rich depth and complexity with layers of sweet and dried fruits, toasting oak and peppery spices. The casks used have been hand selected for this complex flavour profile, but each bottle is taken entirely from only one of the barrels, so the bottles from each barrel of this release are unique in their own way.
