Description
Established in 1870, this expression from Heaven Hill Distillery is a smooth Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey named after bonded treasury agent, John E. Fitzgerald. He was one of the only people to carry the keys to the storage warehouses, and would help himself to the liquid inside. A small batch expression of no more than 100 barrels, this is bottled at 92 proof, or 46% abv. Larceny demarcates itself by using wheat instead of rye as the secondary grain in its mashbill, allowing for a smoother and creamier expression.
Creamy, herbaceous notes combine on the nose, with sugary pastry, fruity coffee, and coriander all present. The palate is smooth, with malt loaf, Christmas spices, demerara sugar and oily butter. The finish is spiced, with fruit and coffee returning for the grand finale.
